Time now to speak up for the kids who have no voice....

Just time for a quick post.  A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to make video statements concerning the 'don't say gay' bill that is being pushed through our Tn legislature by homophobic idiots.  This took place at a Sunday afternoon Tea, hosted by our TEP leadership. I had not intended to make one, thinking the statements might mean more if they came from parents who had kids currently in school.  So, I baked.  And when I went over to check on the event, I realized that my voice could be used to speak for the kids who had been in and out of our home the last few years.  So, I quickly put together a statement .... I WISH I had introduced myself as Catholic. The legislature is pushing this 'crappy bill' because they think it appeals to the 'conservative Christians.'  Well I'm not conservative, but I'm not sure that Jesus would align himself with these folks either.   At any rate, the other thing I should have mentioned is that my son and my daughter in law are both teachers. They tell me there are days that they need every tool in the tool box. They work with broken kids and broken families, and no one needs to send the 'talk police' into their classrooms. Teaching is tough enough...why tie their hands in ANY way.

At any rate, the link takes you to my statement.
